Description

The 2 Star course is designed for people who hold a 1 Star and have done a fair amount of paddling since, so a prerequisite is that you are comfortable with capsizing.

The course is designed to extend your paddling skills in different craft as well as introducing a range of new skills and techniques.

It is a significant step up from the 1 Star and gives you the fundamental skills which will be the basis of all your future paddling, be it lakes, rivers, white water or the sea.

We will provide boats, paddles, helmets, buoyancy aids and all other necessary equipment, although if you have your own kit then you are welcome to use it.

Successful performance at this level indicates that the paddler can use fundamental paddlesport skills on flat water to control movement of both canoes and kayaks, and have an understanding of how the paddle, boat, and water interact.

This course is over 10 evening sessions (Wednesdays) of 2 hours each from May 9th. This format suits people who can’t make weekends, but more importantly, it gives you lots of time between sessions to practice (Sunday/Tuesday club sessions) and also time for it all to register in the mind. Getting on the club trips is a great way to build confidence and practice what’s been covered in the course so far.
