Description

A trip is being arranged to paddle the stretch of the Derwent through Matlock and on to the Matlock Bath slalom site. Because of limited parking, small eddies and difficult egress from the slalom site, this trip will be limited to ten people including leaders, and in kayaks only.

In order to ensure that the water is not too challenging for the newer paddlers, the trip will not take place if the Derwent gauge is showing a level over 0.7m. (Gauge here: https://riverlevels.uk/river-derwent-matlock-town-matlock)

In order to limit the numbers, this trip must be pre-booked here. This will also enable pre-planning. I would like to do this without using a trailer (parking again), but use maybe three roof-racks.

Because the river parallels the A6 busy main road, and the few laybys tend to be full, we may have to carry the boats back up to the Artists corner car park at the end of the trip(1 km), and if you want more than one run on the slalom section, that will also involve walking with the boat.
